Delete Your Account

Last updated: 26 August 2026

PlateLens lets you delete your account at any time. This page explains how to request it, what is removed, and — just as importantly — what is not.

How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your account directly within the PlateLens app by following these steps:

1
Open the PlateLens app
Launch the PlateLens app on your device and make sure you are logged in.
2
Open More, then Profile
Tap More in the bottom bar, then Profile.
3
Scroll to Account
On the Profile screen, scroll down to the Account section.
4
Request Account Deletion
Tap "Delete Account" and confirm when prompted.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription.
If you pay for Premium through the App Store or Google Play, deleting your PlateLens account does not cancel that subscription. Unless you have already cancelled it, it keeps renewing and charging after your account is gone. Cancel it in the store first, then delete your account.

30-Day Grace Period

You can recover your account within 30 days.
After requesting deletion, your account enters a 30-day grace period. During this time, you can cancel the deletion by logging back into the app and tapping "Recover Account".

After the 30-day grace period expires, your account cannot be recovered and the data listed below is erased from our active systems. Some traces are not covered by that erasure: operational logs, a subscription record held by our payments provider, a referral link recorded on the account that invited you, and internal processing cursors. Your friendships and league records ARE deleted, as the table below says. The disaster-recovery retention described below is separate again.

Data That Will Be Deleted

When your account is permanently deleted, the following data will be removed from our systems:

Data Type Description
Account Information Email, name, profile photo, authentication credentials
Meal Logs All logged meals, nutrition data, and analysis history
Photos Food photos, progress photos, and any uploaded images
Health Data Weight, hydration and blood glucose logs; synced health data and body metrics
Coach Conversations All chat history with your AI coach
Goals & Progress Nutrition goals, weight goals, streaks, and achievements
Social Data League participation, friendships, leaderboard history
Device Data Push notification tokens and device registrations

Data Retention After Deletion

After your account is permanently deleted:

This action is irreversible after 30 days.
Once the grace period expires, PlateLens cannot restore your account, and there is no way for you or for us to recover it through the app. Export anything you want to keep before you request deletion. Disaster-recovery snapshots, described below, are not an account-recovery route.

Export Your Data First

Before deleting your account, you can export a copy of your data:

  1. Go to More > Profile > Account > Export My Data
  2. PlateLens prepares one private JSON file in the background containing everything the export covers — there is no format to choose and no account-age or record-count cutoff
  3. The export continues if you leave the screen. Keep it open to download the file as soon as it is ready, or return and select Export My Data again to resume the same preparation. Changes you make while generation is in progress can affect what the file contains
  4. When the file is ready, its signed download link appears in the app and stays valid for up to 24 hours from readiness, not from when you open it. Nothing is emailed to you, so save the file before the link expires

Can't access your account?

If you cannot access the app or need assistance with account deletion, you can contact us directly:

Include the email address associated with your PlateLens account. We will confirm ownership with you before acting on the request, which may take longer than deleting it yourself in the app.
