Terms of Service

Welcome to PlateLens! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the PlateLens mobile application ("App") operated by VisionTech Solutions LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using PlateLens, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using PlateLens, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old to use PlateLens
• If you are under 18, you must have parental consent
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account

3. Description of Service

PlateLens provides:

• AI Food Analysis: Photo-based nutritional estimation using artificial intelligence
• Nutrition Tracking: Logging meals, calories, macros, and micronutrients
• AI Coaching: Personalized guidance from virtual nutrition coaches
• Health Integration: Syncing with Apple HealthKit and Google Health Connect
• Progress Tracking: Weight logs, streaks, and goal monitoring
• Connected Apps: An optional, read-only connection that lets an AI assistant you choose (for example ChatGPT or Claude) read your PlateLens data through the Model Context Protocol, as described in section 11

5. User Accounts

5.1 Account Creation

You may create an account using Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of unauthorized access

5.2 Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time via Profile > Settings > Delete Account. Your account enters a 30-day grace period before permanent deletion. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Subscriptions & Payments

6.1 Free & Premium Tiers

PlateLens offers both free and premium subscription options. Premium features may include unlimited AI scans, advanced coaching, and additional analytics.

6.2 Billing

• Subscriptions are billed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
• Prices are displayed in your local currency before purchase
• Payment is charged to your App Store/Play Store account at confirmation

6.3 Auto-Renewal

• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
• You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your device's Settings app
• For annual subscriptions, we will send a reminder notification 15-30 days before your subscription renews

6.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time with the same ease as subscribing:

• iOS: Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions > PlateLens > Cancel Subscription
• Android: Google Play Store > Menu > Subscriptions > PlateLens > Cancel

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to premium features until then.

6.5 Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective policies. We cannot process refunds directly. Contact Apple Support or Google Play Support for refund requests.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use PlateLens for any illegal purpose
• Upload content that is offensive, harmful, or violates others' rights
• Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or exploit the App
• Use automated systems or bots to access the service
• Impersonate others or create fake accounts
• Share explicit, violent, or inappropriate content in chat
• Use the AI coach for purposes other than nutrition and wellness

8. Intellectual Property

• PlateLens and its content, features, and functionality are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws
• You retain ownership of content you create (photos, logs, chat messages)
• By uploading content, you grant us a license to process it for providing the service

9. AI-Generated Content

PlateLens uses artificial intelligence to analyze food photos and generate coaching responses:

• AI estimates are approximations and may contain errors
• Coach responses are generated by AI, not human nutritionists
• We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated nutritional data
• You should verify critical nutritional information independently

10. Third-Party Services

PlateLens integrates with third-party services (Apple HealthKit, Google Health Connect, OpenAI) and can be connected to third-party AI assistants through Connected Apps (section 11). Your use of these integrations is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

11. Connected Apps and Third-Party AI Assistants

Connected Apps is an optional feature. It lets an AI assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol (for example OpenAI's ChatGPT or Anthropic's Claude) read the PlateLens data you authorize, category by category, after you sign in at auth.platelens.app with your PlateLens account.

• Read-only: In its current version the connection can only read; it cannot log, edit or delete anything in your account. If we add capabilities that go beyond reading, they will require your separate consent
• The assistant acts for you: Each read happens because the assistant requests it during your conversation. What the assistant says, stores or does with that data is governed by its provider's terms and privacy policy, not by these Terms, and we are not responsible for the assistant's interpretation of your data
• Estimates, not advice: Nutrition, calorie, activity, energy-balance and weight figures read through Connected Apps are estimates and informational only. They are not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Do not use Connected Apps for emergencies or high-stakes medical decisions, and review the data yourself before acting on it
• Your control: You may revoke any connection at any time in the app under More → Preferences → Connected Apps or at auth.platelens.app. Revocation does not affect your PlateLens account
• Our control: We may suspend, revoke or limit a connection or the feature as a whole for security, abuse, legal, or maintenance reasons, and we may change the connector, the data it exposes or its availability. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the connection
• Eligibility and acceptable use: The eligibility rules in section 2 and the acceptable-use rules in section 7 apply to Connected Apps. You may connect only accounts you are authorized to use
• Changes: We will communicate material changes to Connected Apps through the app, at platelens.app/mcp, or by email

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

PlateLens is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

• The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Nutritional estimates will be accurate
• The App will meet your specific requirements
• Any errors will be corrected

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PlateLens from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

15. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notification or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Montgomery County, Texas, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of such courts.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
