Terms of Service

Welcome to PlateLens! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the PlateLens mobile application ("App") operated by PlateLens ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using PlateLens, you agree to these Terms.

Important: PlateLens is a wellness and nutrition tracking tool, NOT a medical device. Do not use it to diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition. Always consult healthcare professionals for medical advice.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using PlateLens, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use PlateLens
If you are under 18, you must have parental consent
You must provide accurate information when creating your account

3. Description of Service

PlateLens provides:

AI Food Analysis: Photo-based nutritional estimation using artificial intelligence
Nutrition Tracking: Logging meals, calories, macros, and micronutrients
AI Coaching: Personalized guidance from virtual nutrition coaches
Health Integration: Syncing with Apple HealthKit and Google Health Connect
Progress Tracking: Weight logs, streaks, and goal monitoring

4. Medical Disclaimer

PlateLens is NOT a medical device or healthcare service
Nutritional estimates are approximations and may not be accurate
AI coaching is for general wellness only, not medical advice
Do not rely on PlateLens for managing medical conditions, allergies, or eating disorders
Consult a doctor, dietitian, or healthcare professional for personalized medical advice

5. User Accounts

5.1 Account Creation

You may create an account using Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In. You are responsible for:

Maintaining the security of your account credentials
All activities that occur under your account
Notifying us immediately of unauthorized access

5.2 Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time via Profile > Settings > Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Subscriptions & Payments

6.1 Free & Premium Tiers

PlateLens offers both free and premium subscription options. Premium features may include unlimited AI scans, advanced coaching, and additional analytics.

6.2 Billing

Subscriptions are billed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
Prices are displayed in your local currency before purchase
Payment is charged to your App Store/Play Store account at confirmation

6.3 Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your device's Settings app

6.4 Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective policies. We cannot process refunds directly. Contact Apple Support or Google Play Support for refund requests.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

Use PlateLens for any illegal purpose
Upload content that is offensive, harmful, or violates others' rights
Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or exploit the App
Use automated systems or bots to access the service
Impersonate others or create fake accounts
Share explicit, violent, or inappropriate content in chat
Use the AI coach for purposes other than nutrition and wellness

8. Intellectual Property

PlateLens and its content, features, and functionality are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws
You retain ownership of content you create (photos, logs, chat messages)
By uploading content, you grant us a license to process it for providing the service

9. AI-Generated Content

PlateLens uses artificial intelligence to analyze food photos and generate coaching responses:

AI estimates are approximations and may contain errors
Coach responses are generated by AI, not human nutritionists
We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated nutritional data
You should verify critical nutritional information independently

10. Third-Party Services

PlateLens integrates with third-party services (Apple HealthKit, Google Health Connect, OpenAI). Your use of these integrations is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PLATELENS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
Health issues arising from reliance on nutritional estimates
Loss of data or service interruptions
Actions taken based on AI coaching advice

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the past 12 months.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

PlateLens is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
Nutritional estimates will be accurate
The App will meet your specific requirements
Any errors will be corrected

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PlateLens from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated via in-app notification or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of jurisdiction.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
