How these calculators work

The formula calculators start from the same place: your basal metabolic rate by the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, with the alternatives shown where they matter, multiplied by the conventional activity factors and with published reference ranges applied on top. Calories burned uses MET values from the Compendium of Physical Activities, and the restaurant pages use the chains' own published nutrition data. Every page prints its formulas, links its sources and computes the result in your browser, so you can check the arithmetic and nothing you type leaves the page.

A calculator gives you a target; only logging tells you what you actually eat. PlateLens logs a meal from a photo, a plain-words description, your voice or a barcode, fixes a portion in one sentence, and compares each day with your goal, whether that is losing, maintaining or gaining weight.

Now track what you eat

The calculators give you the target; PlateLens counts what you actually eat each day from a photo, text, voice or barcode, and compares it with your goal.
