Log exercise with a start time and duration
PlateLens records when a manual exercise happened as well as what you did and how many calories it burned. Describe the activity naturally, then review its Diary date, start time, duration, activity type and calorie estimate before saving.
Log an exercise
- Open + and choose Exercise.
- Describe what you did. Include a duration or start time when you know it, for example “35-minute run, started at 6:15 PM”.
- Choose Analyze or Estimate. PlateLens identifies the activity and interprets timing details in the description.
- Review Date, Start time, Duration, activity and calories. An assumed duration is labeled as an estimate so you can replace it.
- Save the exercise.
How “Finished now” works on Today
When you log from Today, include a duration, and give no time wording, PlateLens selects Finished now. It freezes the time when you asked for the estimate and subtracts the duration to calculate the start. A 30-minute workout analyzed at 7:10 PM is therefore shown as 6:40–7:10 PM. Vague context such as “this morning” stays without an exact start until you choose one.
The choice stays visible on the review screen. Change the start time, date or duration whenever it does not match what happened. If you change the duration while Finished now remains selected, PlateLens keeps the frozen finish and recalculates the start. Select Finished now again to turn it off while keeping the calculated start; later duration changes then move the end instead.
Logging from a past Diary day
When + comes from a past day in Diary, PlateLens keeps that day as the exercise context. It can read a duration from your description, but it does not manufacture a start time just because you are logging later. Enter the real start time if you know it, or leave it unset and keep the exercise attached to the selected day.
A precise time written in the description can be proposed for that Diary date. You still see it before saving and can correct it.
Mobile, web and Apple Watch
iPhone and Android
Use + → Exercise from Today or Diary. After analysis, the timing controls appear before the activity and calorie result. Open a saved exercise from Today or Diary to edit its date, start time and duration later.
Web app
Use the Exercise option in the + menu. Date, optional start time and duration share the same review step as activity and calories. In Today or Diary, open the … menu beside a saved session to edit or delete it.
Apple Watch
Describe the exercise by voice, then review its proposed start time, duration and calories before saving. The Watch keeps the frozen capture context; if a finished session began before midnight, it stays on its actual start day. Use the phone or web app when you need to move the entry to another Diary date manually.
What the time changes
- Today and Diary: a timed exercise shows its start–end range and duration. An exercise without a start time remains a day-level entry; PlateLens does not substitute the time it was logged.
- Calorie estimate: AI uses the interpreted duration when estimating burned calories. Review calories again after materially changing the duration or intensity.
- Daily targets: manual exercise still contributes to activity-adjusted calorie and macro targets according to your settings.
- Weekly and monthly PDF reports: when the report period contains manual exercise, PlateLens automatically includes the complete exercise log with its date, confirmed time or range, duration and calories. Unknown time or duration remains clearly unset.
Time zones, daylight saving time and limits
PlateLens stores the start as a real instant together with the time zone that assigns it to the Diary date. This keeps the exercise on the intended civil day when you travel or when your device’s current time zone changes.
- A confirmed start cannot be more than five minutes in the future.
- Duration can be from 1 minute to 24 hours.
- If daylight saving time skips the selected clock time, choose a real time before or after the gap.
- If daylight saving time repeats the selected hour, PlateLens lets you choose the first or second occurrence where that distinction is needed.
Edit or delete an exercise
Open the … menu beside the session in Today or Diary. Edit opens the complete exercise editor, where you can move it to another date, change or clear the start, change the duration, activity or calories, and re-estimate from your description. Delete always shows a confirmation before removing the session. When a timed exercise moves to another date, PlateLens preserves its local clock time whenever that time exists on the destination day.
