Use the local 3D Body Scan
Open + → Wellness → 3D Body Scan in the mobile app. The scanner guides you through phone placement and a turn, then builds an interactive body model and measurements on your device. The result is temporary: Save scan is disabled, and leaving the scan discards it.
Confirm your details and download the scanner
- Review the body model, height and weight shown on the first screen. The form uses your account’s unit preference. Any edits apply only to this scan.
- Choose Prepare my scan. The app downloads the scanner files and checks them before use. These reusable files stay on your device; an internet connection is needed for files that have not been downloaded.
- Watch the three guides while the files download. They explain phone placement, framing and rotation. Each guide includes captions and voice guidance in the app’s English or Spanish language. You can use Read instructions and explicitly confirm you have read a guide instead.
- Choose Open camera when the files and all three guides are ready. Allow camera access when the phone asks.
Choosing a guide does not mark it complete. Finish playing it or use its read-instructions confirmation. You can replay the guides in the preparation screen.
Position the phone and your body
1. Upright phone, front camera
Place the phone vertically on a steady support at about waist height, with the front camera facing you. Keep the phone upright rather than tilting it toward the ceiling or floor. Leave enough space to step back.
2. A clear full-body frame
Wear close-fitting clothes, use even lighting and keep the background clear. Keep your head and feet visible, your feet slightly apart and your arms slightly away from your body. Follow any message to move closer, farther or to one side.
3. Follow the level and position checks
The level bubble shows tilt in two directions. Follow its guidance and wait for the stable state. If motion-sensor readings are unavailable, the screen offers visual phone-placement guidance. This does not bypass the body-position or capture checks.
If the pose overlay disappears or an analysis message says to wait, hold your position and follow the current instruction. A missing or outdated overlay is not confirmation that the frame is ready.
Follow the clock and let the camera capture
- Start facing the phone at twelve o’clock. Wait while the app checks your position and the frame, then follow the countdown.
- Turn to your right when the voice or caption asks. Follow the twelve clock directions shown on screen and pause when asked to hold.
- Let the app take the views automatically. The captured-view count reflects accepted views; you do not need to press a shutter or manually confirm rotation.
- After capture, keep PlateLens open while it builds the model and calculates the measurements.
Do not rush through an instruction. If the app asks you to turn back, slow down or adjust an arm, make that adjustment before continuing. To stop, use the back button and confirm that you want to leave.
Explore the model and each measurement
Drag the model to rotate it and pinch to zoom. The view buttons also let you reset the view, rotate toward the back or zoom without a gesture. Tap a label on the measurement map or a measurement in the list to open its detail. The map uses the measurement pose; choose Show scan pose to inspect the reconstructed pose. When that measurement has a contour, the viewer focuses on it; some measurements have no contour to show.
The number uses the unit shown beside it. Displaying centimetres or inches does not change the underlying scan. Measurements are estimates from this capture; clothing, pose, lighting and framing affect the result. Review any low-quality message before interpreting it.
What is saved or changed?
No scan is saved to your account in this flow. Camera analysis and reconstruction run on the device. The scan and its model remain temporary, while the downloaded scanner files can be reused. Editing the scan’s profile does not write a new account height, weight or body-model preference.
The disabled Save scan button explains this limit. No trend is drawn from a single temporary result, and the screen does not create history for Coach, reports or other devices. Leaving the screen or starting another scan discards the current result. Existing account measurements and reports remain as they were.
If the scan cannot continue
- Downloads: check your connection and available device storage, then retry the preparation step.
- Camera access: check PlateLens’s camera permission in the phone’s Settings. Return to PlateLens and retry.
- Position or frame: replay the guides, improve the lighting and make the specific adjustment shown on screen.
- Voice or tutorial playback: check the phone’s sound and connected audio output. Tutorials have captions and a read-instructions alternative. If voice guidance reports an error during capture, retry the scan.
- Interrupted processing: return to PlateLens and follow the retry prompt. Keep the app in the foreground during the next attempt; a temporary scan cannot be recovered from account history.
- 3D view unavailable: the screen keeps the calculated measurement list available even if the model viewer cannot open.
For saved scale-weight entries, see weight and goal weight. If a problem persists, contact Support with the phone model and the message shown. You do not need to send body photos to describe the issue.
